Get to Know Dr. Jennifer Sherwood Bragg
A good night’s sleep is vital to having your best day, your best life, and the best possible health. Sleep affects everything, which is why Dr. Bragg finds it so fulfilling to help people finally get the rest they deserve through her work as a sleep dentist in Cumming. She has seen unbelievable changes in people getting their sleep under control, and she’s eager to show you just how great you can feel every day.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Sleep Dentist?
Dr. Bragg’s husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016, and during his recovery after surgery, he had to be more sedentary, which caused him to gain weight. As this happened, she noticed a change in his sleep - heavier breathing, and it even stopped completely at times. He also developed light snoring.
She began to delve into the study of sleep because as a dentist, she was qualified to do the training and able to get credentialed to treat patients with Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT), a method that had been approved to help patients struggling with snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). She took an intro course and immediately became impassioned to learn everything she could to provide this solution for her husband and other patients in need. Today, she’s a proud diplomate with the ABDSM!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Bragg started her college career at Mercer University in Macon, where she earned her undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She went on to graduate from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, and today, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.
Through her practice, she works closely with many sleep physicians, ENTs, pulmonologists, neurologists, and primary care physicians, and has treated hundreds of patients with sleep apnea. She is also one of the few dentists in the area who is Medicare credentialed and able to file medical insurance claims for sleep apnea patients.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
